Birthday Weekend at Hotel Monaco | Chicago Home

Happy Memorial Day weekend loves! I hope that you are out and about enjoying this beautiful weather and getting a kick start to summer!

This weekend Josh and I are celebrating his 23rd birthday downtown in Chicago! Our trip has been nothing short of perfect, from the weather, to our hotel, to dinner - everything!

Josh unfortunately had to spend his actual birthday finishing up finals, but we headed to the city right after his last exam. I wanted to surprise him with a nice weekend and celebrate the end of the semester as well as his birthday! We were so excited to stay in the city for the first time, since usually we drive home after spending the day there.

We stayed at the Kimpton Hotel Monaco, which really was the cherry on top of our entire weekend. This hotel was just recently renovated and the new design is absolutely stunning! We stayed in one of the King Suites located on the 7th floor - which had the most amazing view of the city with window seats to fully take it all in.

How amazing right?! This was definitely the best part of the room, but look how gorgeous the rest of it is!

This was just the living room portion of the suite! Now for the bedroom...

Our jaws actually dropped to the floor when we checked in. I could not get over how beautiful it all was, down to every little detail!

The hotel was also in the most perfect location right on the river and next to Michigan Ave! Which worked out perfectly since our dinner reservations were at the Ralph Lauren Restaurant down the street.

Ralph Lauren is Josh's absolute favorite brand, and we stop there every single time we're in the city. If you've never checked out their store on Michigan Ave, it is an absolute must! The interior looks like the most elegant mansion you could imagine and they have a restaurant next door just as beautiful - so it was an obvious choice for Josh's surprise birthday dinner!

Josh ordered the bone-in ribeye and I had the lobster, both of which were absolutely phenomenal! Steak and lobster is our go to every time we go out, so we are quite the critics when it comes down to knowing the best of the best.

I didn't get any photos inside of the restaurant, since it was a fancier place, but here is the outside! Also, not pictured, the birthday boy since he hates pictures and I didn't want to torture him on his day. He gets a free pass this time. ;)

It's safe to say we spent most of our time in the hotel than in the city. I mean, how could we not?! There were actually 3 window seats in our room, one of which was big enough for the two of us to lay on. There's a cushion so comfortable you could actually sleep on them! Josh and I spent about an hour laying and watching the city lights twinkle as we ate our Uber Eats gelato. It was the most perfect night. I easily could have slept there!

We truly did not want to get out of bed the next morning! We just wanted to lay there and look at the view through our window forever!

All in all, we had the most amazing stay! It was probably one of my favorite experiences Josh and I have had together. Thank you for your outstanding hospitality, Hotel Monaco! We will be back again!

Well, that's it for our trip! I added this post to my new 'Chicago Home' category for those of you visiting the city and looking for an all in one resource for the best places to stay, eat, and visit while you're there!
