Happy International Women's day to all the hard working, kick ass, change making ladies out there!
What does being a woman mean to you?
To me, being a woman means carrying the responsibility to make change, stand tall, and most importantly, empower other women. Today is a day, among all other days, for us to recognize how strong we truly are.
So often, we are left feeling we should accept and obey the norms of womanhood - and look how far we have come in history against that. The power of women coming together is unstoppable. It's our time to make our mark.
When I was a little girl and someone would ask me what I wanted to be when I was older- I would say "the boss". I didn't have any clue where or what I wanted to be the boss of, but look at that, little Lindsey - I did it. I am a fully self-employed business owner at 19 years old. Damn, that feels good to say! I am so proud today and everyday to be a #girlboss and to have the ability uplift and inspire other women. I challenge you to take your dreams a step further and set your mind to whatever seems too crazy. Because it's not too crazy. It is possible and you can do it. You are a woman and women can.
Among all other things that make womanhood so powerful is the ability we have to form an alliance of encouragement to one another.
"Empowered Women Empower Women."
- and 'aint that the truth. Empowered women, empower other women. Being a woman does not mean we are in competition with each other. It is so hard in today's society to get caught up with the comparison game, which usually ends with women being unkind to one another. Stop the mean group chats, ladies! Instead of screenshotting that girl you don't like's instagram post and saying mean things behind her back- lift her up! Comment on it and let her know how beautiful she is. We all need that. Woman to woman.
So let today be a reminder of what it means to be a woman, and a reminder that you can do absolutely anything - and why? Because, you are a woman.
