Happy December 1st! Starting off this month with a visit to Milwaukee's Christkindl market, which is a local market full of German traditions, food, and so many beautiful handmade products! Most known in Chicago, this is the first year the market will have a location in Milwaukee, and has also made its way around a few other locations in the midwest. If you are not from Milwaukee or Chicago, you can check if there is a market located in your city here. The Milwaukee market will be open from November 17th - December 31st, daily Sunday - Thursday (11am - 8pm, Friday - Sat 11am - 9pm).
I ended up going on a Wednesday morning with my mom, which was a good time to go if you don't like being at events with a ton of people, but there wasn't much going on because of that. There are a few heated tents with stages inside for various shows and performances, as well as another large heated tent with a ton of products to look at! I don't know if I could have stayed very long without these tents with it being so chilly out! But another solution to the cold is a gourmet hot chocolate or hot apple cider! My mom and I both are more cider people than hot chocolate, so naturally we went for that, but I have heard so many people rave about the hot chocolate! You can also upgrade your drink to be in one of these super adorable little souvenir mugs, which of course we couldn't pass up.
Unfortunately we did not get to try any food while we were there because we had lunch right before we went, but that is all the more reason to go back! I did see a few booths with things like roasted almonds, pierogis, and some other traditional German food.
Overall I had such a fun time and am so glad that we have something like this new to Milwaukee! I am such a sucker for cute markets and especially around the holidays. So if you haven't already, you need to stop by and check it out before the season is over. It is such a perfect date idea or something fun to do with friends and family for the holiday season!
